Hello Cathalg welcome to the forum at this stage I don't think you need much advice you have the warranty (Much better)
Unless the car has been driven hard, you can expect some black smoke. Before you start driving the car hard check out the service history, the cam belt should have been changed after 5 years or 70,000 miles whichever came first. if its been changed give it some wellie through the gears right up to the rev limiter, BTW I worry about doing this too. I'm normally a bit of a low revs driver but I've found high rev is the most successful way of clearing all the sh!tte out of the gubbings and works. Sori I don't have any clue about the noise. I'd bang it back under the warranty.
