Re: TDC Sensor Replacement (with pictures!)
Thanks for this thread!
Our Scenic RX4 developed random starting problems. I suspected the battery while a friend suspected a sensor of some kind.
The battery (5 year old Lead Calcium) was taken to a Battery Centre, tested with a "could be revived" diagnosis, charged, retested with a "failed" diagnosis, and finally replaced.
Before fitting the new battery, I removed and cleaned the
sensor. Upon initial inspection it looked clean (not spotless though) and there were no metal filings. I sprayed some penetrating lubricant on it and polished it with an earbud and some tissue paper which removed a lot of filth on the tiny metal sensor tip.
The RX4 fired up easily enough. Of course the battery may have also been the culprit. The long term will reveal any real improvement.
Thanks again to all!
