mm. colour coded strips to last (ive been told) have to have the rough plastic finish smoothed off then the paint applied just like on plastic body parts.

If it is matt/rough from new it probably is residue/similar.

You could go for vinyl wrap.(see my posts in external styling)
Original finishes tho, if it is original?.If its matt keep washing it with soap and water till the residue is gone.
Then dont put any polish on the plastic bits,just use autoglym aquawax or simoniz/turtlewax wash n shine and see how that goes.

Currently in coup's garage:
RM III coupe 1.5dci FVT,Audi TT Mk1 ,a bike and too much rubbish.
