Trawled the net and found this solution:
Occasionally the immobilizer goes out of sync with the key.
Put key in, turn to ignition without cranking, leave for about 30 seconds.
Take key out lock door. Open door and turn start her up.
This works!
I've tried this, or at least a few similar ideas and it still seems to be intermittent with my spare key. The one way which works every time is to press the fob button whilst turning.
  1. Can you clarify the preceding steps to this method please?
  2. Do you have to first unlock the car in any specific way with the fob in question?
  3. Should the fob be synced to the central locking (I assume this is a different function altogether and should not affect these steps at all, just thought I'd ask)?
  4. Should the car be locked and unlocked using the console button, the key or the fob?
