Re: Megane III Drivers Door Closing Problems

Hello n wellcome
Hmm ..yours is out of guarantee yes?

Mine isnt and the top of the drivers door sticks out more than the bottom when closed.. they were supposed to adjust this but didnt at last service.
Itll be goin in again this month.

Is yours only closing to the first catch .it closes and is held but doesnt close fully?

Assuming its out of guarantee
Is it a 4 door or a coupe?
Coupes in theory are more prone to door drop cos the doors are longer.
The hinges themselves dont look terribly tough , but too early to say on mine.

Door adjustment at the hinge end is a difficult job,if the door has dropped a bit

If it hasnt or at least not very much ,you can adjust

The door catch and the striker plate on the car body.

The type of prob you describe is usually the the door mechanism is a little too low or the part on the door pillar is a little too high(with wear).
There probably arent any haynes manuals or similar out for the meg 3 yet, but the principle is the same for any door.
Use very small position movements.
The part on the door frame pillar should be the easiest to move but before you do any loosening or moving it might be an idea to mark the exact outline with a bit of paint so you can reposition exactly as it was before if things dont work out.

Id also check to make sure the spiked plastic part that sticks out at the bottom of the door mid way along is seating properly into its hole .

If you could provide some pics of door partially closed, the closing mechanism and doorframe catch and hinges even it would all help

Currently in coup's garage:
RM III coupe 1.5dci FVT,Audi TT Mk1 ,a bike and too much rubbish.
