Scenic III (2012) Factory Supplied Roof Bars

I am a Newbie, so please be kind.

The roof bars supplied with the car seem to be made by a companay called Bosal. They have a cross-section of 50mm wide and 35mm high, There is a removable plastic strip on the top that looks as though it might be similar to the Thule T-track system. I have found that Thule make a T-track adapter (697) that looks like it should be compatible size-wise (20mm slot) and also fit my Thule Alpine roofbox.

My question is, can someone please confirm that the Bosal bars are t-track and are sufficiently striong to hold a box in this way? I am concerned that the aluminium extrusion is not thick enough, or that the removable plastic strip is just decorative.
