Going off on a tangent a bit, but...
There's a rumour going round here at the moment, supposedly originating from the fuels research centre at Stanlow. According to the claims, bio-diesel will cause twice as much wear and tear and therefore halve the life of your engine compared to running on diesel that's been refined from crude mineral
The rumour doesn't say whether this applies equally to commercially produced bio-diesel, or just emptying a few bottles of Mazola into the tank. But if you're concerned, then you should know that at least one of the big supermarket branches (with a large stake in a bio-diesel manufacturing company) is selling bio-diesel on its forecourts. I don't know if it's any cheaper (frankly, I doubt it) so it might be worth avoiding this if you want to play it safe.
