Clio II 1.2 Warm Start Problems

Hello all,

I red articles from other people about the same problem when it is difficult to start the car when engine is warm. The same for me. If I leave a car and go to the shop, after 10-20 min come back, I can not start my little cute Clio anymore. After a few attempts it is starting, but it is very frustrated when you stop your engine in a traffic and you can not start!!! But this is very strange why I can start the car always in the mornings or when the engine is cold???
The questions is - I know this is all about Top Dead Centre - but where is this located, is it distributor cap box? Does anyone have any photos or ideas where to find it? Another thingy is that when my car left on idle, sometimes engine goes off and I can not start it again, only after some time and few attempts.
Please help me to locate Top Dead Centre PLEASE!
MAny thanks for your help!

I had the same problems and it was my crank. Something to do with the warm air on the sensors not allowing it spark......

The TDC is located above the bell housing on the Left side of the engine, roughly under the distributor.

Or it could be due to tight Valve Gaps when hot.. Very Common on the 1.2 engine..

So much so that there is a tech solution on the new 2005 model onwards that requires the complete cylinder head assembly to be replaced..
