My girlfriend rang them up and asked all of your questions. They answered them all and explained the procedure to her aswell. But she is still going to complain when she picks the car up tonight, I'm working all night, otherwise I would have grilled them some more.

Hi JaquiAlive and eSo,

Just to let you know that although i think i've now solved my particular problem, I too have written to RUK about this and copied both Watchdog and VOSA in.

I explained to them exactly what was wrong with mine, that the dealer claimed they'd never heard of a problem with the Wiring Looms etc before, I highlighted how lucky we've all been not to have our car cut out in the middle of a fast junction or on the fast-lane of the motorway causing a fatal crash.

I also told them there were so many others with this problem across the forums on the internet and that I know others have written to them recently about the same thing.

Maybe they have a (moral?) obligation to at least inform all Clio owners about this potential problem

They can't say they are not aware of this!!

p.s. We know RUK monitor these forums. YOU HAVE BEEN TOLD, RUK!

Just a quick update on my plight , my Clio seams to be working now just £540 later, but its still early days. The Renault dealers called us back the other day to ask for feed back and enquire how their service was. Did that poor girl get an earfull lol...

hi ya kafuk well at least its done now! was that £540 including the new loom? if it was then something dosent add up Ive just done a quick price up of what they should have done and going by dealer rates I make it a total of around the £840 mark! I'd be intriqued to know what they charged!
hhm never dealt with any clios with this type of fault dying out on a motorway at speed! REA or RUK not sure which they are coming under now as they keep changing there minds! are aware of the clio fault! but between them and the goverment they have a formula they use to work out a return rates and if it is an issue for doing a recall etc!
this is why RCS will occasionally give a good will contribution! Dont for a minute take what I'm saying as me backing up the burochrocy of Renault these are just some facts that I am aware of!
the other thing we have to remember is we are only 1 country that have Renault's other country's DO NOT have the same issues as we do! for this reason the Renault cotechs/ rte's are trained to a much higher standard than anywhere else in the world and see things no others see or can help with sraight away!
its not ruk that is the issue they are treated just like any other franchise the decisions etc are all from Renault France!
I would like to add a positive to this all though if I may! the new head of Renault Carlos has decided no vehicle shall leave the factory until it is right! which is why if you was to do a comparison check over the older ranges and the newer ranges how many have had to return to the dealerships with complaints I bet there is at lreast a 50% drop! the new Renault era is customer satisfaction 100% nothing else will do!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You know whats worse? when you are pulling out to cross over a busy road to get to the far side when you start pulling out it just ¤¤¤¤ing dies and u do 2 mph a minute acceleration. Scared the pants right off me and the other driver! Mine only happens once or twice a week unfortunately it happened when I was trying to get to the other side of the road.. could have turned out ALOT worse. Car is back at the renault garage for the 3rd time.. first time cost me £266 second time cost me £126 and im awaiting the details of problems and prices today.. maybe it will be £400?! who the ¤¤¤¤ knows!

Its a clio but youve got to love it.
