Renault Clio 172 - Interiors - Leak from heater

My missus's Clio 172 was wet in the front passenger foot well? went to Renault under warranty for repair but was unsure what they had done as i was out of the country at the time and my wife dealt with it, when i got back it done it again but in the drivers side -turned out to be the heater box seal had gone-the mechanic told me it is a common problem!! so if any one has got wet carpets-this could be the cause.

Usually when you get wet carpets in the footwells it can be the heater matrix which has busted . Or the rubber seal that has failed which comes through the bulk head where the heater water pipes come through. I had this on a R5 turbo and a Peugeot 306 Also door seals are another culprit allowing the ingress of water. Not unusual really in the climate region where we live. Somestimes it can also be your boot leaking and the water finds its way to the lowest point of your car. You can check your boot for signs of leaking, Damp and rust is a good indicator.

Just a few things to look for that may help someone else
