Re: Renault - Clio - Starting Problems - A solution???

Hello Ours2012,

Thanks for getting back to me so soon!

It seems to be working fine, however it sounds too me like it's cutting the fuel pump?

My friend came round before i changed the crank sensor, and I'm not sure if he cleared the fault, I can try find out today.

I took the battery off to charge, being an absolute newbie, took the earth cable off first, not sure if this causes any problems?

I will go through all the fuses tonight, I'm currently at work, so did jot that down after reading this thread. Hopefully that will be the solution.

I will try to reply today or tomorrow, but again thanks for the reply! Also I will bear that in mind for future inquiries, or if this reply doesn't generate many solutions.

Hi I've got a Renault Clio Grande 1.2 2000 5 door it was running perfect but wouldn't drive due to clutch going so I've replaced the clutch and gearbox oil put new discs and pads on the front and new shoes on the back along with new handbrake cables and it wouldn't start so I put it down to the emobiliser so I've replaced it and now it still wont start the red light flashed then when I turn the ignition on it stays on constant and still wont start so I've unclipped the fuel pipes and turned it over and no fuel was coming out so I took the air box off the car and sprayed hairspray down the carburettor and it fired up then cut out when I stopped spraying it so I took the fuel pump off and put a live feed to it and it run and then burned out so alls that I'm asking is if I replace the fuel pump should it run or is there anything else I should check while I'm at it ???

Thanks In Advance

has you checked the inertia switch? Big red button, if it clicks when pressed, it was tripped. It turns off the fuel pump, in case of colllision.

Re: Renault - Clio - Starting Problems - A solution???

I have a similar problem on my Clio 4 EDC 1.2. In the morning or when it's cold it fails to start. It goes up to 2000 revs then it drops and the engine stalls. I have taken it back to the dealership but they are saying that it's fine and no errors are popping up.

The only way I can get it started is by accelerating and keeping it a few seconds over 1500 revs then it syncs the revs and the car acts normally.

here is a video explaining this better:
