Question Leaky roof

I see I am not alone in showering my passenger and getting stranded when sensor gets waterlogged. Resealing sunroof and aerial have helped but must be small leak remaining as still leaks at times. Have taken sensor out of housing unit and have in plastic bag taped to roof now - not glamourous but it works! Is there any way of removing sensor and by-passing the immobilisoer altogether? Or I am stuck with a plastic bag taped in my car forever? Such as shame as I love the car in every other respect.

I am in the process of diagnosing the same problem with my Clio. Also 1994.

I have removed all the headlining material today. Although the circular surround at the base of the aerial is craked and loose it isn't leaking.

The fault is with the sunroof.

Don't be distracted by plenty of posts in this forum saying that it's a blocked drainage channel from the sunroof to the front wheel arches.
THERE ARE NO SUCH DRAINAGE CHANNELS. Having removed all the headlining all I can see is flat roof around the sunroof.

The fault is either the seal on where the glass seats when it is closed or where the whole unit seats on the roof itself.

I suspect the latter and water is getting forced under the plastic trim that surrounds the sunroof on the roof of the car.

More tests this week will decide which.

Regards and good luck

well my 94 Clio 1.4RT was leaking. I say was as it is now down to barely a drip every week. Where water had previously got in it had destroyed the sunroof switch but had also got into the guide rails and rusted them. I have been spraying liberal amounts of wd 40 into the rails and last week managed to move the sunroof forward and back a bit(by hand and brute force). This meant I could finally close the roof fully and lock it down and this seems to have pretty much cured the problem. Now when the weather gets drier I will investigate further with a view to getting it working fully.

Leaking Clio roof

I have 1994 model and despite all the rumours have never found the so called drain holes -I don't believe they even exist and if they did where do they drain to. I have searched the Internet and the Haynes manual and also spoke to Renault technicians. I know some cars have drain channels and hoses which usually lead into the front wheel arches or front bonnet scuttle. Its most likely to be the aerial as already said. If you take it to renault thay say it needs a new rubber seal (cost 250 plus - not worth it I say). Try the aerial seating first -failing that open the sunroof and clean round and underneath the edge of the rubber - its usually full of gunge and then treat it with a silicone rubber spray (available at good motor factors). By doing htis I have been able to solve the prob and open the sunroof at least once a month - if you can park it up somewhere safe and leave it 24 hours or more it lets the rubber expand to its natural shape. Maybe I'm wrong but if any body knows the whereabouts of the so-called drain holes and hoses please let me know.

Exactly the same problem I have had.

Got slightly side lined following up information on a supposed blocked drainage channel from the sun roof to behind the front wheel arch.
These do no exist on this model - don't look for them.

I stripped out all the interior roof lining and tracked the problem to where the sun roof sits on the body of the car.
Mine has a black pasltic surround to the sun roof. I gaffer taped all round this to form a water tight seal between it and the roof of the car.
Since then I have had no problems.
It's not attractive.

When the weather improves and/or I get space in my garage I will fix the seal. The whole mechanism is bolted to the roof from the inside by about 10 bolts. I will release all these, remove the complete assembley and reseal.

Good luck.
