fitting a replacement cd player

My N reg Renault has a factory fitted radio/cassette, but I am thinking of buying a CD player from Argos to replace this.
Is replacing this an easy task for a novice? How do I get the old one out of the dashboard with minimum disruption. Will a new one fit (are these things a standard size?) Wiring etc etc. If you have any experience of this please let me know, or is it better to have it fitted by an 'in car entertainment' company.?
