Re: Scenic - Failure to release parking brake following rear pads replacement
Spoke to TP Renault Specialist who confirm diagnostic can only be done by Renault and if replacement parking break mechanism is required this can only be fitted by Renault.
Diagnostic confirmed parking break mechnism requires replacement, £637, and that the cause is damaged cables at the caliper end. Also indicated that cables ought to be detached when replacing pads since if they are not detached then the activities of pad replacement can lead to cable damage. The TP break specialist did not detach the cables and never normally does.
Following various avenues in order to manage / mitigate this cost. If any one has any suggestions it would be appreciated.
Please do not do any one down. Who knows who reads this forum and I cannot know 'for certain' the cause of this fault, I want to keep the peace with those who I have to deal with to help resolve this. It's just good to have a variety of input while trying to solve a problem.
