Re: Renault Trafic - Brake Light Switch Location*FIXED*

Always remember these are for RH drive roads - the mechanisms are on the other side for many features. The brake switch is on the LHS. Open the door, squeeze down and you should see a plastic moulding about the size of a shoe, on the bulkhead. That's where the brake servo comes through. The switch is high up where some complicated rods and linkage hide. Unscrew the housing, use a torch and fiddle with your fingers. You can see the switch is operated by a steel 'paddle' welded to the top of the linkage. It is a push and turn fit - may have come loose. It's not difficult to replace, but best to take the linkage off first. Start with the small nyloc nut holding on a bright steel drag link, then pull off the mini-UJ. Then you'll see a bigger cross bolt which releases the main linkage including the brake light paddle. The switch is easy to access then. It sounds awful, but is not too bad to do, although you'll have back-ache afterwards!
