Renault Clio - window problem

My daughter has a '51 reg. 3 door Clio, and the passengers door electric window has never worked since she's had the car.
I've finally got around to replacing the regulator which I've done successfully - but, although the window lowers with no problem at all...when you try to lift it - it tilts forward & jams..??
It seems to be seated ok in the guides & travels freely - and if you place your hand lightly on the glass and gently lift the front whilst winding it up it lifts ok.
I've obviously attached the glass to the lifting clip on the regulator, but I'm wondering if I've missed something.?
Any advice anyone..??
