Laguna fuel capacity

My Lag 1.9dci has, I believe a 70 litre tank. Given that and having done a lot of work on it recently I decided to fill her up, run her low and bung some Cataclean through and then fill up again. I would get a good idea of how much range I had and what my current fuel consumption was as well as cleaning the innards out.
Well after 735 miles, the low fuel warning on and the needle reading near empty I went to fill up. There were no signs of running out, (it did that once when the sender stuck so I know what thats like), so imagine my supprise when I put 71.18 litres in before it clicked off?
What I want to know is if there is some extra capacity in there above the 70 or are the pumps at my local Shell garage a bit dodgy??????
