Personally speaking Pete, I would remove the seats (the water may drain through the bolt-holes in any case), then remove the carpets (which you would need to do, to clean & dry them), then you can assess the situation regarding holes (whether already present, or needing to drill a couple).

Be under no illusion that this will be a particularly quick, easy or pleasant job - but it is necessary to grasp the nettle, to resolve.
