I thought exactly that, pads should outlast the discs, its interesting that it should be 3:1.
I'm not sure if you've misunderstood me, but discs should outlast the pads. My ratio meant that one set of discs should last the lifespan of approx 3 sets of pads.
Brakes (because they are designed to wear) are excluded from warranty (unless they have been subjected to a manufacturing defect), however, that is not to say that a Goodwill Contribution cannot be given, due to the low mileage.
You will need to balance out the cost of the inspection (and any contribution Renault may offer) against the (presumably) lower price the non-Renault garage quoted.
Out of curiosity, is the car on it's second set of tyres?
