Re: Clio mark 3 - brake discs worn before pads after 26000 miles?
Many car manufacturers have reduced the quality of the discs fitted when new - not just Renaults - ask any Toyota owner. My Honda is still on its original discs at 12 years old and my 1994 Clio is on its second set approaching it 19th birthday.
Personally I no longer would recommend OE discs. The composition of brake pads has changed over the years but not enough to make such a significant reduction to the life-span of the discs.
In my opinion the old story put about by many garages about the change of pad compound is more myth than fact and it would have no effect regarding corrosion.
