Re: Windscreen stone chips.... Three in two months! Alarming.
TBH, most stone chips are caused either by roads being resurfaced the 'easy-way' i.e. loads of loose chipping laid on top of tarmac, or just through lack of road maintenance leaving surfaces crumbling and embedded in tyres.
To prevent the chips from filling with dirt/water or forming cracks - I would suggest carrying a tube of superglue and a paperclip.
Once a chip appears, apply a minute drop of glue (using the opened paperclip) into the centre of the chip.
This will seal the chip, whilst retaining the tensile-strength of the screen which will greatly reduce the risk of a split forming.
This job should never be complete - the day I think I've done it all, is the day I resign.
