Hello everyone, my scenic 2 has developed a knocking sound, at first I thought it might be strut mounts (hence video) but sounds like it may be coming from steering rack (after reading another post here).
I first noticed a kind of clang going over certain very harsh speed bumps.
The video is with engine off & just the 1 wheel jacked up. Sorry about the 33sec intro.

I later put the front end on axle stands, turned engine on and when i turn the wheels fully from left to right there is also a knocking/click towards left turn.
Can anyone have a look at the video and give me a bit of an idea what it may be.
Thanks Jon

You really need the engine off and steering lock off.

This vid will give you a bit of advice.
You only need to shake the wheel a very small amount when checking for play in track rod inner joint and track rod ends.

You can also check for play in the steering column if you get someone to shake the steering wheel a small amount while you feel the steering column under dash and at the steering rack connection.
With the wheels on the ground is best for this.

Diagnosing a knock from a video is a bit difficult with the amount of joints on the steering system.
