Re: 2001 clio 1.2 16v sunroof leak

I've just done a fixed glass sunroof on a 51 Clio II Ph 2 DCI
My thoughts are as follows. Take the roof right out. Scrape the stupid Renault double sided off completely
Don't use bathroom sillicone , the roof moves about too much in the frame. Use a bonding sealer (Stickaflex) that goes quite rigid. At the very least, use an expensive brand name silicone (Bostik etc) Test a little first to make sure it dries like hard rubber and not like stetchy soft silicone. When you apply it, apply generously to the roof and a bead on the inner edge of the plastic surround. Look at the plastic surround, you will notice that the front edge is far deaper than the rear. You need to really fill that front recess with silly so that when you fit the roof, you get a good bead splurging out around. Once you've replaced all the bolts and the drain tubes, tighten them all up evenly. let the silly dry off for about ten mins, put the glass back in then spray all over the roof with fairy liquid and water. Using a wet lolly stick, flick off all the excess sillicone onto the floor in quick deft sweeps. Jobs a good un.
Now make sure all three scuttle drains are clear. There is one rubber valve plug thingy on both sides under the plastic liners in the sides of the inner wings and another crucial one hanging down underneath the car just in front of the front firewall. It's a blank bit of 1" diameter rubber tube with a rubber flappy valve thingy on the end
