Re: renault clio 1.2 help

Hi Lainybird welcome to the forum.

Why was the car abandoned in the first place - that may give some clues. Was it still running well when left.

Has the car been exposed to very cold temperatures or the engine started up during that time? Was the engine coolant frost pretected?

If the car has not been touched in that time I would expect there to be corrosion problems in the mechanical and electrical aspects of the car. Renaults in particular don't like the damp.

The first thing to do is test if the engine turns freely by hand and then try an engine start using a good battery.

If all is well in that respect then a proper service would help and then it's a case of working your way through all the other systems such a brakes, electrics, bodywork, etc.

In my experience be careful not to spend too much money on such an old car (12 years old) as you can easily end up spending more money than it is worth.
