Water in drivers footwell

Hi there,

I didn't notice this until last night after I pulled the ice scraper from under my drivers seat and found that the whole of the drivers footwell is soaking wet! I decided to do some Googling and found out it could be the drains under the scuttle cover?

Anyway, I've just popped out to take a look and found that the front drivers side panel (the one in front of the drivers door, that the bonnet lies on top) doesn't seem as though the side closest to the door is fitted properly. The gap widens at the door side compared to the front of the car, the passenger side looks fine.

It's quite hard to explain, but could that be the problem why there is a wet footwell?

I will try to upload some pictures later but it's snowing heavy at the moment.
