Re: Laguna mark 1, advice best engine / model
The 1.9 dTi's are OK but eat gearboxes, the 1.8 16 valve estate we had was really good but a little sluggish if you like to drive 'enthusiastically'.The F4R 2 litre is again good, the 16 valve petrols do seem to be very short geared though making motorways tiresome.Avoid the late Mk1 dCi though (which replaced the dTi),it was very early in the exploration into
technology for Renault passenger cars and they can be very flaky.
If you can stomach the fuel costs,a V6 24v manual would be great.
I enjoyed owning all of our Lag 1's,they treated us very well and it would be difficult to find a better family car for the money.
