Re: Grand Scenic 2005, Park Brake Fault
I had similar problem on mine parking brake making noise like hammer drill, local garage told me it required new module, BUT I thought I'd investigate first and it turned out to be a seized nearside cable, they are part of the module but it was the caliper end so took entire thing off and by spraying cable with WD40 and pulling the end the cables and stripping the remains of the opeque inner plastic lining on the cable (not the black outer casing) finally freed it off. Refitted and voila (sorry that was French) the problem was fixed and brake working silently and as normal. Got the insight into this from an excellent post by gonescenile so many thanks to him. Also a spongy brake pedal could be air in the brake system so bleeding the brakes would be a good test to see if you can fix. But as the previous post says best get it checked out.
