I think sometimes it is just down to luck

I had a picasso in 1999 had it for 4 years without a problem (apart from recalls) traded it for a 6 month old trajet which went to the garage 11 times in a year with fuel problems & brake problems. Nothing quite as severe as yours but still a lot of issues. Finally lost confidence and traded it for the Scenic. Had to emerg stop from 35 last weekend with the kids in the car - brakes and handling were fantastic, and thats with rust spots on the front discs.

As i say sometimes it's just luck i think and buyer a brand new car certainly doesn't guarantee any.
Currently in ggsumo's garage:
2004 Scenic II 1.6 VVT & 1998 Renault Laguna 1.8 RT
