Corroded brake line - replace only corroded part? ***resolved***
As I mentioned on another thread, I've just been for my local version of the MOT.
One problem with the car was "excessive corrosion" of a brake line at the back near the exhaust.
The examiner told me that I don't need to replace the whole brake line, just the part that is rusted excessively (around 4cm in length).
- Is this standard practice?
- What are the pros/cons? Presumably the brake lines are rusting elsewhere as well, so long term I should get the whole lot replaced.
- Would you pass a UK MOT if you only replaced part of a brake line, assuming there was no other excessive rust?
