scenic hand brake lever - where does this connector go??

Ref; 2005 grand scenic 1.9dci manual
Hello, I removed the drivers side lower dash board the other day and disconnected the hand brake lever & the blue electrical connector from behind it.
When i finished i put it back together and the orange service light and triangle warning light has now appeared and a hand brake fault message on the dash board info screen.
Every thing still works fine as before apart from the message
1)Also on putting it back together I ended up with a random brown electrical connector that does not plug in any where and i've checked & re-checked for a place to plug it in but have not been successful. please view the attached pic to see if you know where it goes pls?
2) secondly as i unplugged the hand brake lever does it need to be reset to get rid of the code/messages from the dash board info screen?

thanks for reading
