Hi ****ie - welcome to the forum.
They may be touting for business so ask them for a written condition report giving the remaining thickness of the pads and disc wear or show you the evidence of corrosion or such. There is a specified minimum thickness for both pads and discs.
Sadly modern brake pads and discs tend to have a short life-span and that applies to many other makes - I have seen many Toyotas suffer worse.
