Re: Sanding brake discs

Hi all,

Well, the car passed the Austrian version of the MOT.

The tester was happy with the other 4 repairs I got done but was a bit disappointed to see that the brake discs had been skimmed and not replaced.

He told me that the discs are OK but he can already see surface rust building up on them.

He enquired as to my driving style and I admitted that I am not a heavy braker. I prefer to let my foot off the gas and roll towards the lights/junction to save fuel and that kind of thing. Obviously I only do this when not impeding anyone else, but generally it's most of the time.

He told me that I can still drive economically but I should make sure I brake harder sometimes, especially if it's wet and/or there's salt on the road, otherwise I will need new brake discs for next year's MOT.
