Anyway I got a used caliper of a 57 reg for 10 and replaced my old one with that and the parking brake works on both wheels now.
So it was the caliper that was causing the parking brake deficiency on the one side.

I do have a question though- now i have service warning 'check parking brake', anybody know why this could be on now?
Hi Jon67,
Was the caliper removal straightforward? I am 90% certain my caliper is goosed (ever since the return spring went awol!).You couldn't give me any pointers and potential pitfalls that I may encounter (never attempted caliper removal before). I've had a quick look at the cable set up and it looks like the cable might be a b@stard to remove. Thanks in advance. Stevie.
