Re: Renault clio help

Without Renaults costly diagnostic, the garage will probably do extensive... costly routines.

I would drain the ABS and brakes, and refill with clean DOT 4 fluid, do a few emergency stops on gravel or loose ground, (anywhere that will make the car lock wheels) see if it will kick in, it might not if the fault is preventing it from working completely, but at least it gets new fluid pumping.

ABS Pumps like to get sticky valves. Aslong as its topped up and the fluid is good, that's one thing.

Looking at all the electronics, cleaning the reluctor rings and sensors is a good move, make sure the rings don't move, follow the sensor wires, to their plugs, and to the loom, checking everything, you'd be surprised to what can be found with time. Its better than 600+ quids worth of the same in a garage. Just pumping the brake pedal or holding the steering wheel far left and far right could solve it as it gets the brake fluid flowing. If you do that with the brake fluid cap off, you may get rid of some air bubbles, you never know until you try.
