I'm revisiting this thread because I finally got hold of a power and torque curve for the 1.9 dCi 130. I think it pretty much backs up what I'd worked out for myself.
Torque really kicks in at around 1500rpm and hits its peak by 1600. It then stays at that peak until around 2900, at which point it starts to tail off.
But torque starts to drop quite progressively at this point, and the power curve continues to climb until it peaks at pretty much bang on the 4000rpm mark. That'll be where you get your 130 horses (if you're lucky.) The curve starts to drop fairly quickly at this point, but at 4500 you're still producing as much power as you were at 3000.
Without going to town over gear ratios, I'd guess the optimum change-up point is around 4250. You really need to try to keep the revs between 3500 and 4250 to get the most from this engine according to the charts.
