Paintwork and corrosion guarantee.

It seems something like this.

3 year paintwork:
Reading between the lines:
The paint is covered for fading or maybe lacquer peeling off from the substrate ,provided it hasnt been damaged by,terrorists,God,accident damage, stone chips, atmospheric pollutants , or bird droppings. and the like.

12 year corrosion:
Provided you have the renault yearly inspection and stamps in your book.
Covered against any rust on body panels, chassis, subframe that develops from the inside out.
Improper application of primers sealants etc as determined by renault and provided there is no damage from the outside in..stones ,accidents bending panels, terrorists, earthquakes,God and all the usual suspects.
You would think that would cover sills and the like ,but maybe not.

My car,day it arrived. The driveshafts were covered in a lightish coat of rust.
Shock horror,not
They arent panels/chassis subframe.
Quick wipe with an oily rag .
It did demonstrate the car had been hanging around for awhile at the seaside renault holding spot. The shafts did have a very thin coating of black originally,it looked like.

Now: Most of the underbody/chassis /subframes is covered with sealant/grime/dirt. Im not going to be steam cleaning and peering into joins to see if everything is perfect,or lifting carpets either.
Im sure renault does all that when its in for the corrosion checkpauses to wipe tears from eyes).

While changing a fog lamp bulb recently I had access to an area behind the fog lamp and in front of the wheelarch liner.
There are chassis sub frame square section steel bits in there and some hangers that components are mounted on.
There is plenty of air circulation but no real dirt gets in so the parts are clean.
There is a light coating of dust.
The parts have a hi gloss black paint.

There is rust on the parts ! :0

At bends a light brown coating.(wipe with a cloth and you could probably hardly see it)
A cut end of square section steel tube, the paint has flaked at the sharp edges and there is light surface rust + an appearance something like what you would get on a metal battery holder where acid has leaked out.
A kind of whiteness to the very mild rust.

Its covered up now and Im in no rush to be examining again. It wasnt omg or anything but,it isnt going to get better on its own.
The car is coming up on 2 years old.

What do you guys think?
1. give it a quick wipe and a run over with some black paint next time I peel the wheel arch liner back ?.
Thats probly the most renault would do anyway

or 2. Point out the rust next time its in?
(there is a one inch hole you could shine a torch thru and see the rust.)

Just to clarify ,its not bad or anything, but it is there.

Currently in coup's garage:
RM III coupe 1.5dci FVT,Audi TT Mk1 ,a bike and too much rubbish.
