For a few weeks now my 55 modus auto (bought new) has had an intermittant indicator fault, even though the stalk is in the left/right position, the indicators just stop, or stop and restart. I took it to the garage and they claim there is no fault, and there clearly is as others in the car have noticed it.
Also the fancy digital speedo seems to give in accurate readings on more than one occassion. Again dealer claims no fault.
It is not for the dealer to say there is no fault. But he can say that he hasn't been able to replicate it. If he says that the computer hasn't recorded a fault, tell him that you want that fixed too because it is obviously not working the way it should if it hasn't recorded the indicator failure. Mind you, I'd have trouble keeping a straight face if I were to argue it out with him on those lines.
It is not unusual, for intermittent faults to disappear when you take your car to the mechmaniacs'... sod's law isn't it.
You can test your speedo accuracy against your satnav if you have one. Bear in mind that speedos are always slightly inaccurate especially if you have worn tyres or changed wheel diameter.
