Clio 2 - waterpump

Lately I heard some strange noises and saw the water level is getting lower. Now I even see water under the car. Took the sump plastic cover off tonight, and it is coming from the side where the water pump is. Checked all the pipe connections on that side, but they are bone dry. So must be Mr. WaterPump which is starting to leak. Had a bottom pulley come loose about 3 years back, with the resulting heard rebuild done by Renault, but they were kind enough not to also replace the water pump at that stage. This is on a clio II - 1.6 16V with the K4M engine.

Now I am thinking about replacing the car, as it is starting to have a constant appetite now for money/repairs.

How long can I drive with a leaking water pump?
Yes, I know I will have to keep on filling, but this can be handled for a months or two.

On some other forum I read about the risk of the water pump seizing? Is this possible? As this will obviously create another valve disaster.
