Possible coolant temp sensor (fitted loads in my time)
After a period of time it corrodes inside the clyinder head......This corrosion will interfere with its resistance and signal
thinks the water temp is higher than it actually is thus no mixture enrichment is implemented..(laymens term ..no choke) which will cause poor cold start and stalling.
The difference can be up to 40 degrees..
The Renault diag would probably not have picked a fault with the system..they should have checked the vehicle running parameters when its cold,ie water temp, air temp, etc etc
The water in the header tank is checked with a thermometer and then compared to the electronic reading a see if they are the same....
Hope this helps
