Re: old technology

vehicle "diagnostics" , isnt new.
A big selling point on european car of the year 1972 audi 80 was the plug in diagnostics .crude but still extent.
A 77 v6 peugeot I had was improved beyond all recognition with the early 80's electronic ignition system from a volvo and a "plasma" box..
20 years ago, ecu 's were already ignition retard for octane pink detect n so on.

I got a "superchip".. it sucked, gave a/c errors even tho the car had no a/c.etc..
You have to go back around 30 years for real diy engine tuning/jet sizing, gas flowing the butterfly valve, Dave Vizard the wizard etc :D

2 litre 4 cylpetrol doin 300bhp doable even if you had to rebuild the engine every year

Now ,you have to do both engine physically and know the software .

It still seems(to me anyway that for adrenalin , theres no substitute for cc.
Unfotunately here in Ireland cc gets you shafted on motor you have to rely on lower cc forced induction engines and hope they havent been treated too harshly.
Currently in coup's garage:
RM III coupe 1.5dci FVT,Audi TT Mk1 ,a bike and too much rubbish.
