The independant is renault approved. I'll check my breakdown cover but I think there's a distance clause.
Most of my research is done here and when it comes to the parking brake, I think the only way to be sure is to get a new one fitted and set up
2nd hand is possible but there's a strong chance of an id conflict that will permenantly flag a parking brake fault - not good for MOT, I believe!

That said, the parking brake is still stuck fast! I'll give it another go this weekend. If a have breakthough then I'll proclaim here but I expect that all that will really work in the end is a big pair of clippers! (and a loan!)
