A momentary judder might have been the ABS.
If you ran over a slippery surface while braking, one of the wheels could lock for a moment which will trigger the ABS.
Slippery could be anything from diesel spill/ manhole cover/ patch of gravel ect.
Corroded or damaged ABS reluctor rings could give a false signal that might also cause the problem.
Would see if it occurs again before getting too worried.
