If they are actually the toothed variety you can see them by looking behind the wheel take the wheel off and have a good look see if they can be moved on the shaft, if it does not have them I don't know how to check them it could be just a case of renewing the bearings if they are fitted to them I don't know.
A search on here may help as I have seen other threads on the issue.

Who would design a vehicle that falls over when you stop?
