Megane 3 parking brake message

I have a 59 plate megane sport tourer and the other day the spanner light came on and now a message is on saying "check parking brake". The only thing I have done differently was when I took the car out of the garage the other night I forgot to release the handbrake first so when I took off in reverse I heard it release as the strain went on. Could this have affected anything?
I work with Vauxhalls and am used to there set up where the handbrake releases automatically when it sense revs and clutch pressed together but the megane dosent seem to do this?
Also with vauxhall you can put it in to a service mode by holding down the button for 10 seconds which basically resets it. Is there anything like this with the megane I could try?
