Re: Pricing advice/help

Having had work done at my behest by a so-called Smart repair specialist when he turned up he was in fact a profesional who had 20 years experience in a well respected body shop which was recognised by VBRA, insurers and the AA and RAC so obviously he was no amateur. The car in question was a Suzuki Jeep. The repair was quoted by the Suzuki dealer to cost 350 plus VAT. Whilst the job was being done I got to chatting and it transpired he was contracted to do most of such minor repairs for the same dealer. In fact a few weeks later I met him at a Ford dealership doing similar work on the bonnet of a Ford Focus and his results were professional;

His charge was 80 so in effect there was an overall saving of 340. It should be remembered very few dealers do their own bodywork or paint repairs and usuall ycontract out to either Smart-type repairers or professional approved body shops.

Like any work you contract to be done it is wise to seek references before commiting.

In my opinion it is unfair to generally judge (or misjudge) a profession or serviceon the resuts on one poor job or experience.
