Hello and welcome to the forum.

The main problems are gearbox failures(usually caused by the nearside inner CV gaiter leaking oil and running the box dry),heater fan and blocked heater matrix problems(check the knowledge base for the threads) and corroded fuel tank strap failures(usually on Laguna 1 phase 1's............

The one your looking at is a Laguna 1 Phase 2,and they make cracking second hand buys.In general, they are reliable, very comfortable, and in my opinion, still a very nice looking car.Apart from the obvious things to check, make sure the cambelts been changed at the correct intervals, and take the car on a decent test drive and listen to any noises from the gearbox and check the gear change is smooth and quiet.

Good luck, and let us know how you get on.

I'd rather push my Alfa than drive a BMW....
