handbrake issue

I own a 2005 Renault Megane 1.6 VVT PRIVILEGE and the other day when I pulled up the handbrake it went right up to the top with no resistance, at first I thought a cable had snapped. I got a quote from my local dealer of 179, ouch, on looking at the handbrake I noticed that the left cable had become unattached and not broken.

Can anyone tell me if this is a job I can do myself and if so give me any info of anything to look out for, is it pretty straight forward ?

Many thanks for looking
