Re: Lumpy paint

My H-D motorcycle has a fine metalic paint on the tank. Years ago a neighbours young kid sat on the bike and rubbed their dirty football on the top surface of the gas tank. The gritty dust left several scratches of varying depth around 2" long and it didn't look pretty.
I bought some rubbing compound paste from the local car spares shop and after a couple of sessions the scratches had been removed and with a coat of polish the gloss was restored. I didn't relacquer the area and its been ok for years.
Currently in Renoir White's garage:
Renault Trafic 1.7 Petrol Vauxhall Astra 1.4i & in bits Triumph Bonneville T140E & H-D XLH1200
