Re: Espace V6 Cam Belt

Wow, and I was under the opinion that all Renaults worked on 70K miles or 5 years whichever comes sooner.

Re: Espace V6 Cam Belt

Just to clarify as the thread didn't make it 100% clear. The 3.0 V6 dci available on the Espace states 120,000 miles or 10 years, which ever is soonest. Its not a Renault engine.

Re: Espace V6 Cam Belt

This is an old thread but needs some additional info. My 2005 F4R 2.0 non turbo driver's handbook says 70K miles or 5 years for the cam belt.

BUT if it is used for short journeys or low speeds the belt should be changed at 40K miles.

Mine was done at 58K on time and to be honest all of the belts looked pristine but you can never tell. I also replaced the water pump but not the dephaser pulley.

Guess what's now showing signs of trouble.

Re: Espace V6 Cam Belt

What do you think a reasonable price for this is?

Re: Espace V6 Cam Belt

Has anyone done this themselves?

I've bought a 2003 V6 that's done 124,000 miles and has no record of a timing belt being done in the service history (which is otherwise excellent).

I'm good with spanners but don't have anywhere undercover to work, or any engine lifting equipment (could hire possibly).

I've seen people saying it's 10 hours labour to do the job, is this the Renault number, or is it what indpendents have charged? My local garage charges 40 an hour, with the kit at 180 that's close to 600 for the job, not too bad as I got the car very, very, cheaply but if the work can be done in less than 10 hours with some black magic then I'm open to suggestions
