Sorry haven't read all the replies but I had water in my passenger footwell last year.

It was after the side quarter light had been broken by some mindless idiot! The glass had shattered but had stayed in place so I put tape over the glass to hold it in place until the glass was replaced.

Glass was replaced through the insurance and all was well. A few months later the passenger footwell was full of water and I mean full! At least three inches deep!

I pumped it out and dried as best I could. Contacted glass replacement firm they took car away saying the door/wing mirror seal had been left off and they couldn't get a new one. Car went back to them but they said they didn't have the equipment to dry the car out. It never dried, in fact itslowly filled uo again. I complained and they said it was nothing to do with them.

Contacted the insurance company. They arranged to have the car taken into local Renault dealers. They removed dashboard and found quarter light leaking. Bloke from glass replacement firm said it was the windscreen - it wasn't!. Anyway they sealed all the internal seams of the fibreglass panels that had been disturbed during quarter light replacement. refitted the quarter lighht and sealed it. sealed the wing mirror housing anyway, touch wood, it's been OK since then.

It took weeks to dry out by the way!

I'm currently getting wet footwells and mine is coming from a black case just above the pedals, seems to be related to the heating/aircon system. Also my old car (wasn't a Renault) developed a leak and it was caused by a faulty pipe leading to my rear wiper. Everytime i tried to spray water on the rear window it all came into the car and you wouldn't believe the amount of water and how quickly it built up before i realised where it came from....
May be worth a check!

I've had two instances of wet footwells.

1) When drain for a/c evaporator got blocked with leaves etc
2) When windscreen leaked...Needed the screen rubber trim taking off and completely remasticing it in again and then replacing the trim.

I suddenly started to get water in the footwells of my 94 espace.

It drove me up the wall I tried all sorts of things, many of the things already suggested in this post, but my problem was different.

Bellow the wipers is a black plastic grill, you can remove it by removing the wipers and about 3 screws, it is a bit fiddly but it comes out. There is a water tray under there, which stops the water before it runs into the heater. The water from this tray runs away through a drain hole in each corner (at the bottom of the windscreen pillar)

Take a coat hanger and straighten it out, and push it into the corner of the tray. When I finally cleared the blockage the water poured out above the wheel..... and the floor dried up

I hope this helps
